Enemy of the Sun

Am I an enemy of the sun or is the sun an enemy of mine?

The sun provides life
Yet it is sucking the life out of me

​

Countless hours of sunlight

​

The sun greets me as I awake
The sun stays with me as I sleep

​

Soon…it will be gone
And I will be an enemy of the darkness

Today, the sun rose at 4:48 a.m. and set at 12:20 a.m.

​

Although I have been sleeping fine, it is not really sleep.

​

It is comparable to how I feel after I napped for way too long.

​

Sleeping during the summer is like a long nap. I wake up multiple times during the night and can still see the sun peeking in through my window.

​

I do not feel refreshed in the mornings.

​

I am not a person who sleeps through alarms but it has become a daily occurrence. 6 a.m. 7 a.m. 8 a.m. and then I just stop trying.

​

One night I went to bed at 9 p.m. and woke up at 11 a.m. and did not feel like I slept at all.

​

Somehow, I feel this winter will be the same.
