Life Cycle of the Salmon

Today, I had the unique opportunity to see the life cycle of salmon on one boat trip.

We boated up the Aniak River about 30 miles, stopping along the way at different sites.

​

I saw salmon:

1. Headed upstream to the site of their birth

2. Spawning, making nests, laying eggs

3. Become grotesque, ugly colors, like zombie fish, half – alive, flopping lifelessly as they die

4. Dead, scattered all over the riverbanks, and full of maggots
