New Mexico

In July 2016, I visited the extreme northwest corner of New Mexico and stopped at Aztec Ruins National Monument. Named after the nearby city of Aztec, the site has nothing to do with the ancient Aztec people who lived farther south. Aztec Ruins preserves a 900-year old Puebloan site and exploring the dark, cool passageways of their former home was of great interest to me.

From there, I drove to Shiprock, into Arizona, then looped back around to the Four Corners.

Someday I hope to revisit New Mexico and see other sites of beauty, such as Carlsbad Caverns National Park.
